Three Years Later

Sorry I haven't blog in a long time but I'm back and here's what I plan to do with my sports blog. Starting tomorrow, I'll be blogging baseball results and give you my interpretation on the events surrounding baseball. I will also comment on any recent sports activities going on. Also, I'll give you my comments on last week's MLB Draft and tell you all what I thought about it. Lastly, I will talk about the ISU Grand Prix Series and see if there's a sleeper in any of the six events as we head to Sochi for the 2014 Olympics. That's all I plan to do for this blog. Again, sorry that I haven't been updating in the past few years but if you want any updates come to my twitter account: SRod_Neal where I'll be tweeting anything going on in the sports world and retweeting anything that I feel as an importance. Again, sorry and I hope to keep you all up to date. Until then, enjoy some of the baseball shows I watch including the ever-famous Intentional Talk with the "cursed" Chris Rose and the "Happy-go-Lucky" Kevin Millar.

Steinbrenner Day

In my eyes, I'm officially calling July 13, 2010 Steinbrenner day as a tribute to one of the best George Steinbrenner. When news broke out about his death, I was shocked and completley sadden that you know I'm still sad. Tonight, for the respect of the game, I will be watching the whole 2010 Major League Baseball All-Star Game with the exception of the 9 o'clock hour where I hopefully will be watching Downfall on ABC and then with time remaining after the show will go back to the game. What this means is that I will not be watching season 2 of WWE NXT. Though the guys from season 1 are to be there tonight, I feel that Baseball today is more important and to respect my grandfather and Mr. Steinbrenner, I'm watching the All-Star Game. I wish I can say more but at the same time I can't because I still too emotional right now. That's all I have to say in my sports quest today and my prayers are out to George Steinbrenner, the New York Yankees, and his family and friends in this sad day: July 13, 2010.

Twitter Account + 2 Days Worth

Come and visit my twitter account: http://twitter.com/sandysport

And let me report on everything's that's been happening in the past two days.

First off, congratulations on another major Serena. You're the bomb lady and I can't believe you finished off that Russian so quickly. You're the best!
Second: What's wrong with you, Washington? Stephen gets a ND because you pulled him out too early not knowing you may win the game. If I was his pitching coach; I give him one more inning to pitch until he goes over 100 pitches.
Third: Miz; you are one total nut for not seeing potential in Bryan Danielson.
Fourth: The Atlanta Braves are smoking hot this summer and I can't wait to see how they do as we head into the MLB All-Star Break.

Those are my top 4 topics that I believe were newsworthy today. I'll be back tomorrow with more Sports topics. Goodbye for now.

Break-ups, Drafts, and Upsets

Welcome to Sandy & Sports! My name is Sandy Rodriguez-Neal and today I will comment on some of the sports stories that I believe deserve national attention.

First off is the breakup of pairs skaters Keauna McLaughlin and Rockne Brubaker. All I can is, I'm shocked. This pair reminds much of Tai Baibalonia and Randy Gardner when they skated. They created chemistry with their music and to me; I felt it was very understanding. I'm hoping that whatever future brings for them, they can find because I know they were great and now with them gone; I don't know.

Now, Roger Federer! What's happening to Roger? For the last three years; this guy has been totally unbeatable and then bam, it's gone. For the second straight grand Slam; Roger Federer is ousted at the quarterfinals in Wimbledon. This was surprising to me as I was expecting another Federer v. Nadal final at the event. I think a lot of you guys expected that now looks like we won't see it. Same thing goes for wanting that Williams Sisters final as well. But I guess we can't have it both ways and just have to accept that they're maybe some human insider Roger Federer. I'm hoping that Federer can bounce back from this defeat and do his best to win another title and another slam in the coming future.

Next is my opinion on the stipulation of the MLB All-Star Game. I've been saying this for years and I'm hoping that the guys at MLB Network as well as all baseball analysts can relate to what I'm going to say. Ever since this stipulation where the winning league get home-field advantage at the World Series; the same league has won every year. I'm not a fan of this because it ruins tradition. In my eyes, the tradition in which that at each final, it's the best team that has home-field advantage. And in recent years, some of those teams have not been the better team. I'm stating to all baseball people that this reason and this reason alone is why I no longer watch the All-Star Game because I always have the feeling that the same team wins. It's been happening since 1997 and I don't feel that I should see a game with the same results. I'm sorry about and I'm hoping that one day those MLB people will relook at this.

There's a few more things I like to discuss and then I'll be done until tonight. First off, June was the month where baseball, hockey, and basketball each had their drafts. For the MLB Draft, all I can say that it was good to see some of these guys get drafted, if you're a high-school student, try your best at college first before considering the sport of baseball. The NBA Draft came with some surprises but not with who was #1 (that being John Wall) but the surprising thing was that the first college graduate wasn't selected until like #22 or #24 into the NBA Draft. All I can say is that the College Class of 2010 didn't have that long strength to extention. Lastly, the NHL draft was a milestone. The first draft to have more Americans drafted in the first round than in any other round. The next thing is having Emerson Etem being drafted by his home state. Out of all sports, Ice Hockey is the only one with very few African Americans and for him; this was a great opportunity to get African Americans into Hockey.

Lastly, I want to let everyone know that I'm available for any sports-related job. I don't care what it is as long as it is in the broadcasting area. Thank you for your time and don't forget to come here tonight to see what I have to say about tonight's baseball games. See you guys later.
